History

Dehradun Regional Centre of IGNOU was established in March 1999 to cater to the need of the people of the North-western UP. To begin with it had 6 study centers in its jurisdiction with total student strength of about 1,200. By 2008, the number of LSC's under the region reached 47 and was admitting about 10,000 students every year. In 2007, the parts of UP which were attached to this Regional Centre Dehradun were bifurcated and attached to IGNOU Sub Regional Centre, Aligarh except the districts of Saharanpur, Muzzafarnagar and Bijnore which remain attached with Regional Centre Dehradun till 2017. In 2018 Study Centres under districts Saharanpur, Muzzafarnagar and Bijnore were separated from RegionalCentre Dehradun and were attached to Regional Centre Noida. Now we cater to the needs of higher education in the state of Uttarakhand with 22 active learner supoort centres across the State. 

Location

At present the Regional Centre is located at Tapovan, Raipur Road, Dehradun, which is a conveniently located place and is about 6 kms from the Railway Station and 10 kms from the Inter State Bus Terminus.
